Blood Drive

San Diego Blood BankYou can make a difference in the lives of patients in our community by donating blood on Sunday, May 18, 2008 (8:00AM-1:00PM).  Each Sunday prior to this date, you may stop by the sign-up table to schedule an appointment to donate blood.  When you donate blood you are not only making a difference in the community, but you also earn points for each blood donation to shop online at the San Diego Blood Bank Life Saver Store.  For more information, or to schedule an appointment to donate, please contact Lynda Dixon at 760-966-1260.

Discovering the Basics

Discover the basics of Lighthouse Christian Church; an introductory class to our church family.  We have many people coming from a variety of church backgrounds and this class "Discovering the Basics" is designed to teach our basic beliefs, background, and ministries to both our new members and those who are visiting and interested in learning more about Lighthouse Christian Church.  The class runs from 2PM-5:30PM.  Those who pre-register may sign up for the free pizza lunch at 1PM for for free childcare during the class.  Join us on Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 2:00PM-5:30PM.  Please register by filling out the response form in Sundays' worship program or contact the church office at 760.726.0590 x0.

Church Maintenance Position

If you or someone you know has maintenance experience, part-time daytime hours, and is physically able to move things like tables and chairs, please contact us at 760-726-0590 x0.  We could use volunteers and a part-time paid position.  (Qualified applicants only, please)

Vacation Bible School

This year's Vacation Bible School (VBS) program is science based and loads of fun! "Power Lab - Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power" will take place July 6-10, 2008 from 6:30PM-8:30PM.  We are now recruiting leaders and helpers for this exciting week.  Adults and teens are asked to check out the bulletin board for volunteer descriptions and sign up on the bulletin board of through the response form in Sunday's Worship Program.  There will be a VBS Volunteer meeting on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10AM, 1PM, and 4PM.  Contact Andrea Openshaw at 760-583-8917 for more information or to volunteer.

Ladies' Retreat

The Ladies Retreat at beautiful Featherstone Camp will be held on October 10-12, 2008.  If you would like to help with this retreat, please contact Debbie McNerney from the First Christian Church of Chula Vista.  At least one person from our church is requested to help.  Debbie can be reached at 619-985-1258.

Childcare Help

More help is needed during the 10AM Sunday Service with the 2 and 3  year old class.  At least 2 adults and one teen are needed for the fourth Sunday of the month rotating schedule.  Due to the number of children involved, all parents are asked to take a turn helping with a class.  If you can help, please sign up via the Response Form in Sunday's Worship Program or for more information, you may contact Andrea Openshaw at 760-583-8917.

Seniors Needing Transportation

Seniors, if you are unable to drive to Sunday Worship and need transportation, please contact Tim Bullis and he will try to coordinate a ride for you.  Tim can be reached at 760-724-9589.

Greeters Needed

A smile, a handshake and hello is a great way to start your Sunday worship.  Greeters are needed for the 10:00AM service.  If you are interested in greeting your church family as they enter the sanctuary, please contact Wayne Jones at 760-754-2656 or 760-752-5269.

Ninos De Baja Trip

Join us on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 6:30AM for the inauguration of the new dorm at Ninos de Baja, an orphanage east of Ensenada, Mexico.  We will leave from the church parking lot at 6:30AM and reurn that evening at 6:30PM.  You must have a passport or driver's license and birth certificate with you.  If you are interested in going or need further information, please contact Jerry Carey at 760-940-8765.

Angel Tree Ministry

A leader for the Angel Tree Ministry is needed.  This is an annual ministry Lighthouse participates during Christmas for children whose parents are incarcerated.  If you would like to be involved in this ministry, please contact Lorrea Crane at 760-433-3479.

Helping Hands Ministry

Helping Hands is needing a ministry leader.  This is a monthly service group of women in our church who help make baby blankets for the newborns in our church and others.  If you are interested, please contact Lorrea Crane at 760-433-3479.

We are currently updating the Directory for Lighthouse members and regular attenders and need your help.  If you have any changes in your phone number, address or name or if you were omitted from the previous directory, please complete the Response Form in Sunday's Worship Program and place it in the offering plate.

Scholarship Funds

You can make a difference in the life of one of our school children by contributing a small amount to the School Scholarship Fund on a monthly basis.  For more information or to help, please contact Andrea Openshaw at 760-583-8917.

Grief Share Group

If you have lost a loved one in the past year or two or feel like you could use some extra support, contact Peter Cieslewski, a hospice-trained leader at 760-295-1885.  Meets on Wednesdays at 5:45PM at the Cieslewski home.

AWANA
We have a thriving AWANA program at Lighthouse Church.  AWANA is an international, nondenominational, Bible-centered youth organization providing ministry for three year olds through 8th grade.  AWANA's purpose is to reach children with the Gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him.  AWANA also reaches parents and other family members with the Gospel.  If you would like more information or to register your child, please contact Chris Martinez or Adri Furtado at 760-726-0590, x16.  You may also bring your child (preschool-middle school) before 6:30PM any Wednesday night.
The Alternative
"The Alternative" - Tuesdays at 6:30PM for middle and high school students.  We focus on everyday issues teens face and the biblical solutions to guide through school and life (stress, depression, popularity, identity, self-esteem).  For more information please contact Chris Martinez or Antonio Maldonado at 760-726-0590 x16.
Broadcast Ministry

Volunteers are needed to assist in taping and editing for the Public Broadcast of our worship services.  All training is provided.  If you are interested in serving, please contact John Byers at 760-726-0590 x17.

eScrip and SCRIP are Available
SCRIPPlease help our Lighthouse Christian Church's Building Fund by registering your credit cards at eScrip.  eScrip is an electronic fund raising program where participating merchants contribute each time you make a purchase using your debit/credit cards. Scrip is also available for purchase.  Purchased at face value it can be used for groceries, gasoline, home improvements and all your Christmas shopping and travel.  For the maximum contribution, use your debit/credit card to purchase Scrip.  The school receives a percentage of both eScrip and Scrip and in turn gives our Building Fund 90% of their profit.  Find out how to register your debit/credit card at the hospitality desk or contact the school office at 760.726.0590 x14.  Scrip cards can be purchased weekdays from 8:30AM to 4:30PM or Sundays between worship services.
Missions Served Bulletin Board

In the hall next to Rooms 5 and 6 you will find photos, letters and bulletins that our missionaries have sent.  Lighthouse tithes 10% of all general offerings for our operating budget to missions.  Stop by and see what's new.
